accelerator pedal is stuck?

I have a 318i touring BMW (1999) and the accelerator pedal is stuck. when the pedal is depressed it moves but it feels like there is something is resisting it , like there is something behind the pedal but there is not .
Any ideas ?

Hello,

It sounds like the spring that goes under the accelerator pedal is probably defective.
It could have corrosion or debris around it and making it harder for you to press the pedal.
You might be able to simply clean the spring and lubricated to get this to work as usual.
