I had to replace head gasket on engine. It is stock b18b1. Head was shaved. I torqued in pattern and i went from 20ft-lb, 30 and finished with 45ft-lb.. It runs fine However i keep reading it takes 60ft-lb..if this is true would i have to retourque it? And if i do, do i need to re do the job and remove head or can i just continue in sequence to whatever torque it really takes?

I would torque them to specs, but you wouldn't want to remove the head again. Years ago it was common to have to retorque head bolts after they went through a warm-up cycle. Typically that isn't necessary any more, but in your case you want the correct clamping force to promote proper sealing.

Be aware that a lot of imports call for replacing head bolts. They are "torque-to-yield" design in which they stretch when tightened, and using them a second time is not recommended.
