when driving cruise control light comes on and the car cuts off what is that?

the car will just cut off while driving, the cruise control flashes and the car quits

What I recommend is to have the computer scanned for trouble codes. There really isn't anything with the CC itself that should shut the engine, so anything I say would be a guess. Most parts stores will scan the computer for free.

Most likely to be an electrical issue here and the ignition switch would be the prime suspect.
