my 1998 volvo c70 passenger seat is stuck in the farthest forward position. the controls on the side of the seat dont work nor does pulling the strap on the bottom of the seat it just wont move and my husband's knees rest on the glove compartment when he rides with me

What could have happened is that the spring broke of for the backrest microswitch? See picture below. Lift up upholstery and lift the little lever #3 and that will press in the button for the microswitch and make it possible to move the seat back. If you have a fax number I can fax over the repair procedure since there is drilling involved to install a new spring. Or it will be best to take it in to the dealership for the repair. Let me know if the diagram helps out?
