i cant get torgue converter back in transmission. been trying for 2 days. is there something im not doing right or a special tool i need?

It should be something you are not doing correctly.
While holding the central protrusion of the torque converter, lift it slightly and push torque converter in while turning it to and fro to get it into the slots of the oil pump. It should go in when you feel it move inwards.
