1998 Toyota 4Runner trouble starting vehicle

I have changed the battery terminals and that seemed to do the job and about a week later it went back to the same thing. it now takes about 10 turns to get the motot to turn. I was told that it may be the battery cables or the starter silinode. I was told since it turns eventually it isn't the starter. when starting it has inter. lights and just seems there is no power to the starter. a direction of what Im looking for thanks in advance

Don't know which engine you have but if yours has the little silver Nippendenso starter, worn solenoid contacts are real common. The intermittent no-crank will get progressively worse over the next weeks and months. Most people just replace the entire starter but there are repair kits to address this problem. You'll find them at most hardware stores and farm and home stores. The kits come with four contacts. You use the "battery" contact which is the same in all starters, and the one of the other three that matches your "starter" contact. Typically you have to buy the kit for a Chrysler product and don't use the plunger that comes with it. If you need a new plunger with its contact disc, for Toyotas that has to come from the dealer.
