98 sidekick automatic 4x4 idle surges up and down when cold and levels off to a stall out after warm and runs rough and can not drive or it wont go fast enough.I replaced o2 sensors as it needed them for a good while ,than the maf and after that a few days it started rough idle ,my cat was not even a year old.now I hear a rattle sound in it like something is bounceing around in it.when I rev the motor it revs good just wont idle right and in drive has no pick up just boggs. thanks for any help you can spare. mj

Iam not familar with that scan tool but iam sure in the instructions it will tell you how.Cam sensor is in the distrubutor that's why tell you to.remove the distrbutor cap. Also you remove the pcm but don't unplug it.

The only reason your removing the pcm is to.be able to.get the wires to it so which ever way is easiest for you to be able to get to the wires. What does it say on your shifter indicator gear position wise?

Sounds like you found something other then the pcm i posted a diagram of where it is its number 22 in the diagram.I dont have a access to the connector faces and pin outs on the vechile. You would just find the connector thats 26 pin and the other one which they say is 22 pin and count from the end the amount of pin numbers they say which is 3.The wire should be white if you started from the correct end.Let me know what you find.

well some how were not on same page here,,,,the trouble tree said nothing about being under the dash for anything,It only said to remove pcm and turn it to test it once the testing plug is found, which in fact led me to believe it was in general area under hood,is that last diagram wireing under hood? if so its not very clear ,I cannot even blow it up like I could the trouble tree.

Are you talking about the step 2?If so if the voltage is constant you go step 4 which says check for a open in the wire which ever color yours is of no open replace cam sensor.

The wires end to end from the sensor to the pcm and see which wire it is.Use low scale resistance setting on your meter.

Iam sure you dont have a scan tool to see iac duty so i would leave that sure around.I posted a pic of the idle air control valve so i would start by removing it and cleaning it.Also clean the ports etc.

okay I just did a resistance on valve and it is 11 being in spec,I read voltage with key on ,,,on the plug and it is only getting 10- 11 volts. I cleaned the valve and run a fused wire from battery to test valve and it opened and I could blow freely through it, does this mean Im not getting proper volts from pcm?
