the idle on my car keeps climbing and when the car is in gear it keeps accelerating

when the car is idling it goes up to about 3000 then when the car is in gear it keeps accelerating

i would look for a vacuum leak. either that or the idle speed control motor has failed.

Just to add to this one the most common place for a vacuum leak on that car is the short hose that runs from the intake manifold to the pcv in the valve cover.Those hose colaspe and get hiles in them all the time.
