When you remove the key does the cylinder pop up?Or does it stick down when removing the key?

Then the key cylinder sticking down is why the key minder is staying on.The cylinder should pop up and be flush does your key look worn down?Try lubing the key cylinder up some powdered graphite they sell it at the auto parts store.
