1998 Saturn SL1 clutch disengages only when pushed completely to the floor. Is there an adjustment on this or is it automatically adjusted?
He has been driving it this way for years.

There is no adjustment on the clutch pedal it's auto adjustment. So when you push the clutch pedal in is the pedal hard all the way down?Or does the pedal drop some then get hard?

It has fairly even pressure throughout the travel. It get slightly harder when fully depressed.

I was just asking if the pedal dropped some from it's resting point before there was pressure at the pedal?

No, it doesn't drop some from its resting point. There is even pressure thoughout the entire travel length, from resting point to bottoming out.

Does it have trouble shifting into each gear?Is it hard to do that?Any grinding in between gear's?If your having trouble with the clutch releasing you have a problem with the hydralic's or the clutch itself.Sound's like the hydralic's are good from what you describe.

It seems that my son has learned how to drive it and get by with it in its current condition. The clutch barely goes in far enough to allow it to shift. When I tried it a while back, I would grind the gears. It is the same for each gear.

then it sound's like you need a new clutch before you destroy the transmission.Because driving it like that you will damage the transmission sooner then later.
