how can I tell if my a c compressor is going to bad

I think my a c compressor is going bad pulley is because every time I start my car and drive it makes hey high squealing noise but when I give it gas the sound goes on a way I done replace my water pump

First thing to do is check and adjust all belts, replace any that look suspect, then see if the noise continues, if so re post for more advice.
