my ac compressor is connected to my main belt if the compressor goes out will it affect my main belt from working

as long as the front bearing is ok in the pulley, then it will be ok. if it locked up, then no, you can get a replacement to the ac compressor that is a pulley from a company called dorman. sold at parts stores.
you remove the compressor and replace it with this bracket that contains the needed pulley.
