i just started the car and put it in drive and took off when i heard a puff noise and the car stalled. no it wont turn over. everything electrical works but it sound like no compression. the car has over heated a few times in the past but it didnt even get to run for 2 minutes when this happened. the engine was still cold. any ideas?

The only way to find out if compression is problem is to perform a compression test.

Could also be a broken timing belt.

i can just tell it has no compression. it cranks but doesnt have any power. the puff noise it made right before it stalled is what scared me. would it be the heads even know the car was just started and only ran for about a minute?
