SL 3.1 V6.It was grandma car and sat in garage with low miles till she passed 3 years ago this month. put 60,000 miles on it in two years with no problems, this last summer(hottest in Oklahoma history),started leaking and over heating around 102,000 miles, replaced termstat and all hoses. was good for about 1,000 miles. Then it started overheating and leaking anti-frezze again. Replaced waterpump, fan and relays, flushed rad and relaced over flow lid. Once again it was good for about 1,000 miles. Then it blew the timing cover gasket and dumped anti-frezze as fast as you could pour it in to car. Took it to the local GM dealership $1400.00 in labour est.(bs). Spent a week to fix it myself ( 8 dollar gasket and 4 dollar o ring )fix it to the tee per the book. Drove the car from Oklahoma City to Silverton Oregon,(2,300+ miles) no leaks or over heating.
Have been driving it for month (now live in Oregon)and yesterday i smelled anti-frezze,and this morning a good size puddle of anti-frezze under the right side of the car and low coolant light on now. There is no water in the oil, doesn't smoke, head gaskets are good, the car gets regular maintence.(at gm dealership) Motor purrs like a cat,it does leak a half quate of oil every 3,000 miles(intake gasket). It's a shame to junk it, runs and drives great, and body has no damage. I'm stumped. Could fix it with 3 gallons of gas and a match. But want to try one more time. Any other idea's other then pushing it off a cliff.

Once a cooling system gets rusty inside, it will take out components one at a time. You just need to pressure test the cooling system and see what is leaking now.
