I have been trying to locate this part for my maxima, and I'm led to believe they used the same part for many years. May it be titled under a different car? If I recall correctly they used the same assembly until 2008? If I could get some assistance on how to locate a compatible part.

You don't need to know that. The application catalogs in the parts stores take that into consideration already.
