1998 Mercury Sable P0401 Code

I installed a new DPFE sensor and EGR pressure feedback hoses. The code seems to have cleared. How long or how far do I have to drive before I take the car for a smog test. No one seems to know the exact parameters before the code(s) are cleared from the computer's memory.
