fuel consumption

what needs to be checked if the consumption of my car is considerably higher than normal. i really need to increase on milage per liter because it is really expensive.please help me and make ny life easier and better.thanks.

A major tune-up and every major sub-components within the vehicle-such as wheel alignment/suspension etc-

I believe that the oil used can have a impact om fuel consumption ie: the appropriate oil for the 1.5 demio is a w5-20 and the manual says to use this type. However here in the uk most people seem to use the w5-30 a thicker oil (the 30 rating] but at the expense of using more fuel to burn off? so maybe the w5-20 a thinner oil would save money and fuel.......
