Sounds louder than it should when accelerating

New timing belt. Valve cover gasket. Quiet in park. Sounds louder than it should when accelerating. No ticking noise just louder than normal like an exhaust problem but only at acceleration. Lexus dealer said there is a small exhaust leak somewhere. Muffler perhaps?

No ticking.makes a very small whistling sound when slowing down for a stop sign.

Can you identify where the whistling is coming from? It sounds more heating/ventilation related than engine.

Where was the new timing belt done?

a/c heat works fine. It sounds like an exhaust leak but not in idle/park. Had my timing belt put in 1000 miles ago at Dorschel Lexus.

Whistling can be a vacuum leak, check all vacuum hoses first, start here.

It doesn't make the noise when at idle-try jacking it up on all fours and duplicate the problem and comeback with the location

To make pinpointing the source of the whistle much easier, buy a 6 foot length of 7/16 inch vacuum hose and a vacuum tee. Cut the hose into 3 equal lengths and connect them to the tee. Put two of them into your ears, and use the other to move around the engine and engine compartment. This setup will help cut out extraneous noise, making locating the source easier.
