98 Kia Sportage SRS Knee airbag throwing code

I removed the knee airbag on my 98 kia to access the power window relay and when I put it all back together the airbag light is flashing 1 long flash followed by 8 short flash. my son also found what appears to be 4 teardrop shaped weights that look like they may be some kind of inertia switch part.. if they are and fell out while i had the unit out, where do they go back in? thanks for all you do!
