For the past 4 to 5 years, I've had the following intermittent problem with my 98 Jeep Cherokee 4.0, 4x4, ltd, with 123,000 miles:
Occasionally, regardless of outside temperature, but normally in humid weather, the instruments (speedometer, tachmeter, temp, gas, oil, and battery) stops working. The only thing I've found which usually (not always) start them working is to push the odometer/trip reset button, and a couple of times, to push the cruise control on/off button.

Any advice?

Thanks, Harvey

It could be several things. I would recommend starting by checking for loose connections behind the dash. Also, check body ground on the vehicle. A weak or corroded ground can cause this. If all checks out good, you will need to have the body control module tested.
