radio cuts out when in reverse

I have a 1998 Ford Taurus and the radio's audio cuts out when put in both reverse, drive and when but in accessory. Stays on in neutral though. The dis[lay shows the radio is on and playing but no sound comes from the speakers. The radio is a stock radio. I could use some help with finding the grounds if that is even the issue
