My son has a 1998 ford ranger and it makes a noise that sounds like there is low fluid in the power steering pump. This niose is so annoying!!! I checked the fluid and it's fine and the fluid is clean. A mechanic said Ford has a problem with these and the only way to fix is with a new OE power steering pump from Ford. Is this true or will an after-market one work also, if this is even the problem? I just want to know before I spent the money on a repair.
Thanks,
Charlie
