1998 Ford Contour speed sensor

I need a picture of where the speed sensor is located. I need to see if the cables are connected my speedometer, tachometer, and gas gauge has quit working. Someone told me that is the problem. Could it possibe be sonething else. I have to do all repairs myself. Could I also get simple directions on how to replace it if I need to do that as well.

Your speedometer doesn't run off cable. I'd check trouble codes, see if anything for vss. You can get an obd2 code reader that will work with your vehicle or some of the national brand autostores will check codes for free.

The vss should be located on lower part of transaxle. I haven't found a decent picture, yet. I'll keep looking. The diagram is for 2.5L, Yes, I just realized, you said 2.0L, I'll double check the wire colors. If your unsure of exact location, compare wiring colors with diagram and sensor connector. Our database had the same location for 2.0 and 2.5, hopefully the wire colors are the same.

The info for removal, automatic, did talk about a cable. The manual tranny, didn't. What model of contour and engine code? I did look up your part in online parts book, I didn't see how to hook up a cable on that part? All I can do is go by our database.
