i have 98 ford contour it started makin knockin nosie and when i first start it it take a min to get to move
plus it take a min to start

If the noise is coming from the engine, make sure the oil is full and clean. Also, as far as the trans taking a few seconds to shift, that could be related to seals in it that are getting hard. If that is the case, they make additives that can soften them so pressure doesn't by-pass them taking longer to engage gears.
