Whenever I turn my car on it starts up perfectly but when I go to turn it into gear either nothing happens or it takes about 5 seconds for it to go into gear. When it actually goes into gear it slips out of gear quickly. I accelerate and the car goes but only for a couple seconds. Also when I rev the engine it makes a high pitched whirring noise. What could be causing the car to not be engaging the gear or losing the gear, both Drive and reverse?
