is there a special tool for top bolt on starter to make it easier to get off

I have taken battery cables off and got bottom bolt off starter but can't get top bolt off with the tools i am using. (Reg wrench and reg socket wrench) i do not want to have to take out steering column s others have suggested or take off wheel and splash guard and cannot get to starter from top of truck. Is there a different tool that will make this easier or a different way other than taking apart the truck parts i listed above. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I am a woman with alot of automotive knowledge very little money and desperately need this fixed before i am stranded completely. Thanks in advance.

They are a pain in the *&^%. Use an extension with a swivle at the end so you can get the socket onto the bolt. Even then, you'll be saying words that most don't want to hear. But it can be done. It's been awhile, but the extension needs to be about 8 inches long.

Thanks i will try that i had to bust the bottom one loose using a socket wretched and. My feet kicking it because they are on so tight. But maybe ill be able to do this.if i could just figure out a tool that's long enough to use my legs as the leverage on it I'd be good. Thanks i will try your suggestion.

A 3/8" drive set may make things a bit easier, the standard 1/2" drive is somewhat bulky and cumbersome when trying to access tight spots like this.

They are tight and I agree about the 3/8" ratchet. If you can, use a pipe to extend the ratchet to you can turn it by hand. One would think it would be easier through the inner fender or from under the truck, but I always get the top bolt from the top side of the truck.
