I pumped approx. 16 gallons of gas into my 1998 Tahoe and it got about 200 feet out of the station and died, would not start back up at all. Long story short a mechanic came and got it the gas that was pumped was full of water. There was approx. 5 gallons of water in the 16 gallons or gas that was bought. The truck was repaired but would not run correctly until the fuel filter, spark plugs, fuel injectors, and filters were replaced. Now the owner of the station says he is not going to pay because these things can NOT be ruined by water. Please advise if water can ruin these items on my truck and why. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

The water will clog the injectors, fuel filter and the fuel tank pick-up sock and cause it not to start
