Transmission filter

Just to make sure we are on the right page, you went replace the filter and when you removed it, the filter seal didnt come out and it is stuck in the tranny? These seals can be a bear to get out, in the shop I usaully use a hook type pick sticking it up thru the middle of the seal and grabbing the top inner edge and giving it one good yank straight down, usaully does the trick. Keep working on it and you will get it, make sure to clean up any debris before installing filter and pan. Let me know if you have any more questions.

You understand the problem. The seal is stuck in the tranny. I was thinking if I could find a bolt about the width of my thumb I could thread it into the seal, get a grip on the bolt and pull the whole thing out. What's the 'hook type pick' your talking about? The upper edge seems rounded, there's nothing for me to get a grip on I don't think.

The pick is like a small screwdriver but at the end is a small hook with a sharp point, available is most pick sets from any auto parts store. what I do is bury the sharp point into the seal itself at the very top edge, getting a good bite and yanking downward. You can try a bolt but just try not to damage anything, if you screw a bolt up there, im afraid you could get sideways while pulling and actually crack the valvebody, I would stick to the pick idea. You'll get it.
