A/C seals

I would never use a sealer they can ruin the compressor evap core etc.As far the lines go there really isnt a torque spec.You just use common sense to tighten then up.Do you know where the leak is at?

Once I get it tight then I should give it a quarter turn. I can not find the leak. I imagine it is the seals because there is black oil stain on the lines where the seals are and also black on the accumulator. My neighbor has the firebird and he had the same problem and he changed the seals and he has never had a problem sense. Thanks.

Have you tried adding some ac dye and then look for the leak with a dye light?

Yeah I tried it. That crap was junk. I even bought red dye even after I did the kit I bought from napa.

Some of the lights they have in the kits are junk.Was it just a small little flash light one that takes AA batteries?

It takes AA batteries and it is a big light

I have the little pocket light and its useless.

Yeah so I am most likely going to change the seals anyways. They have never been changed and if I need help I can ask y'all or my neighbor. Thanks for all your help.

Look for the oil and dirt collecting etc for possible leak sites.You know were always here and will leave the light on lol.You have been fixing everyones car lately from what i have seen from all your questions.

Your buying the high dollar stuff lol walmart had the 12 oz can for like 10-11 even if you invested in the can adapter and charge hose it would still be cheaper.

Dang the 12 oz can here at Walmart is 16.00 and that is the cheap stuff I have checked for lower prices and that is the cheapest. I buy the interdynamics ez chill 18 oz refrigerant.

Yeah the ez chills are the most expensive ones no matter what size can you buy.Walmart could be more now last time i got one it was 11 but that was a while ago.At the local auto parts store by called star auto i get the 12 oz cans for under 9 with my discount.

Man you are so lucky. I am thinking of buying a 200 30lb r134a tank. It is on eBay and it is new. It is cheaper buying the 30lb than the cans that I buy.

Do you have a sams club by you?I got a 30lb jug out the door for 120.That would pay for your membership right there.

Also I know you don't have to have a license to buy 134a but if they do require it I am certified and so is my dad I have a universal CFC license so does my dad and I also have a 410a license and so does he.

You shouldnt need it the r12 you did i have the robin air cert.Its in the auto section where the coolant jacks etc are.Take a trip to sams with them before they stop selling it getting towards the end of the season.

Yeah I will do that. Yeah I know you had to have an MVAC license which me and him have also. I just took the MVAC test in 2010. Yeah I know anyone can buy r134a. I just wasn't sure though because the SAMs club here is picky. Let me ask you one more question I have been out of havac for over 3 years is it illegal to vent r134a. Also if I do my seals do I have to have the system refrigerant recovered or can I just vent the little bit that is in it.

You cant vent r134a legally thats my safe answer to give you.I have had my ac cert since like 1994.

No you cant vent r12 ethier they really dont want you venting any of those gases.

Yeah I know you can't vent r12 that was the first thing I learned I school.

Everytime the patent runs out on one of those gases they suddenly discover that it kills the ozone and have to come up with a new more expensive gas.Dupont's a smart rich company lol.

Yeah they are soon 410 will have an impact on global warming in another 6 to 10 years.
