1998 chev venture engine dies after 5 secs of running

hey there my dad has a 1998 chevrolet venture 3.4 v6 has run very well and all of a sudden today he was driving home from work and his door locks were locking and unlocking acting weird ,he got home half hr later he got in van to leave and van ran for 5 secs then quit ? battery is fairly new we dont think its fuel pump cause it still starts and when it starts it sounds normal just quits any help would be much appreciated thanks for your time guys
