A 1998 buick lesabre. Code says P0440. evaporative emission control malfunction. Is this a specific item with a simple fix? If so, where is it? Thanks

I posted the trouble tree for your code P0440 it means the computer detects a leak in the evap system.Which controls the fuel vapors it could be something as simple as a gas cap.I would make sure its tight and also inspect the seal on the gas cap for cracking etc.Its not just a you have this code replace this it has to be diagnosed.As you can see in the first steps of the trouble tree it has you use a scan tool and look at the readings.If you have a actual leak somewhere your going to have to use a smoke machine to force smoke into the system.Unless you get lucky and find a broken cracked or hose off.The smoke machines are very expensive i saw a guy on you tumbe make one with a fish pump halloween smoke machine some tubing and a cardboard box.I would have used a 5 gallon bucket with lid instead of the box.
