For oil change, Alldata says: 3.9 quarts with filter, or 3.7 quarts without filter. I did some work: replaced the oil pump, and the oil pan gasket, thus eliminating the pesky oil leak I used to have. After I put back the oil pan, I filled with 3.9 quarts of oil. At a 1040 miles later, I checked the oil level and it was low. I should mentioned that I didn't check the oil level at the time of the oil change ( i didn't think i needed since i put in 3.9 quarts). Now i discover the oil level is low. I didn't get "the oil indication light" on the dash. shouldn't the the oil indicator turn on in my situation? Do you think I didn't put enough oil when I changed the oil? or do you think there is a problem that requires attention? Help please.

It looked like it was below the "low mark", because i didn't see any oil on the stick until i added about 3/4 of a quart. I was surprised because The "oil indicator light" has never turned on. As for leaks, it hasn't leaked since I fixed oil pump and replaced oil pan gasket. I can only hope it's something minor, after all the fixing I did and the money I spent. It would have cost me even more, was it not for the fact that I could do the fixing.

I just bought a jug of 5w30. I'm going to do an oil change today, and keep an eye on the dipstick. However, if you believe there is problem that requires attention, I urge you to inform me. Do you , perhaps, the timing is off? if timing is off, will that cause oil consumption? I didn't think the timing was off, because it starts when I turn the ignition key, and no hesitation when running.
