how much oil does my engine take

How much oil and viscocity type is needed for a regular/routine oil change in a temperate region like Nigeria? Mechanics say just one gal. is ok? I change my oil quarterly with a gal. of 20w-50 type, I have not really noticed any strangeness but I'd like to know the exact qty and type to use. How often do I change my oil considering my region?

With a new filter it takes 4.3qts or 4.1L. Now, above 0 degrees farenheit, it calls for 10W30. However, if you are in an extreme area where the heat is extreme, a thicker oil will not hurt. Review your owner's manual for oil viscosity and temps.
