Look for a community college or an Automotive training school. The instructors often have extra books from various classes put on by test equipment manufacturers and auto parts suppliers.

Reading the fault codes is self-explanatory. You just read the description on the screen. Be aware though that fault codes never tell you to replace parts. They only indicate the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis, or the unacceptable operating condition. You still have to understand how those circuits work and know how to diagnose them.

There really aren't classes on just how to read fault codes. Learning to use all of the other features of a scanner takes up a small part of other classes that involve the rest of the diagnostic procedures. What you're asking about just takes a few minutes to learn, not an entire class.
