1997 Toyota Avalon The Engine Overheats

I opened up the hood for a look see. The oil level was fine. But the coolant was very low, so I filled it up. Could this have been the problem?

My whole message didn't make it through. The "check engine" light came on. The was not any strangeness going on. Thank you.

Go to an AutoZone have codes read to find out what turned light on. Then post will advise
