My 97 legacy has a rattle when accelerate and let off. Embarrassing in town. starts when car warms up! Is it something in cat?

Could be a heat shield or a loose hanger

Investigate the catalytic converter-shake it around and listen -you shouldn't hear anything-let me know

noise is coming from front cat. Am I able to eliminate front cat with test pipe? Will car run ok or no?
