saturntech9. we have problems bleeding out brakes and getting any pedal. it has 2 new rotors on the front. it has 3 new calipers and all new pads.it has abs. bleeding it, it has a good stream of fluid with no air all 4 corners. but the pedal still goes to the floor. tried pumping they pedal a bunch of times and looking at the fluid in the mastercylinder and dont see any bubbles or foaming up. what to try next. power bleeding? this is a 97 saturn sl2 4 wheel disc. usally see rear drum

Why did you replace the 3 calipers? If you have abs its usually four wheel disc.What did the pedal feel like before changing the calipers?

they had 3 calipers blow out. 1 because the rotor ground in to. they didnt no at that time. so they were bleeding the back and the pads were down to nothing and it made those blow out. meaning the piston blew out of the caliper. she must still had some pedal until the front one blew out from being ground to nothing

Here's the deal with bleeding those abs Saturn's you have to put the abs pistons in a certain position that are in the abs module.Then bleed the brake system in a certain order even the bleeder screws on the abs module.The only scan tools I have seen that can do that is the oringal tech 1 which I have and the tech 2 which Saturn used to replace the tech1.I would suggest using the air powered vacuum brake bleeder I have. That's what I would try.

ok wondered if the abs had something to do with it. they will probably have to take it to a shop to see if they can do it. wish the evo could so they could get done. its her school car and job. thanks for the info

Yeah I don't have a special test on my Genesis for tat so I know you don't.So ether Its a bleeding the brakes issue or a master cylinder issue.How did they try to bleed it in order of bleeder nipples?The air powered bleed might bleed it without the scan tool.

they started in the back farthest away and started working to the driver front. wasnt sure if they needed to bleed on the abs itself?

Yeah there are bleeder screws on the abs module but without trying the air bleeder that vacuums the air out your stuck using the scan tool.I have never tried bleeding one without the scan tool.I have always had the scan tool working working at the dealer and now I have my own factory scan tool that will do that.

i will let u know what happens with that. chevy has to work on the newer saturns. dont know if they will do the older ones. thanks

They should have the software on there tech 2 and am sure they have the gm obd1 connector for it.

so are these like dealer scanners? this is a regular shop. and the 97 is obd 1 or 2

They will need a pro link scan tool with Saturn software which is what I have or a vetronics tech2 which is what the gm dealers use.I'm sorry I was just talking to a guy with a 1993 Saturn.That 1997 is a obd2.Or the air vacuum bleeder might do the trick I got the air bleeder for under 40 and its a KD one works great.

ok thought 97 was obd2. i dont have a bleeder but could have used one a few times for stubborn master cylinders. might check for one. never know i guess. thanks
