Lift Point

I need to lift my car to change out the fuel filler neck. All of the lift points along the edge of the car have rusted out. I also don't have a jack which can lift high enough for me to get jack stands on the frame from when I try to use the rear lift point because the car is on a slight angle.

An autozone employee said I could lift the car right behind the wheel, at the knuckle.

Considering I've already bent some of the frame metal from attempting to lift where I'm not supposed to, I'm a little skeptical. Is this actually the case?

Thanks. It looks like there is some kind of line which runs inside the cross member, is that something I need to watch out for?

yes place jack saddle on edge of frame

Thanks. What is that line for?

Also, my friend just brought over one of his jacks, with a much larger surface area. If the saddle spans from one side of the cross member to the other, will it still pose a significant risk to the line?
