how do i reconnect terminals and cables to my battery..??

my car battery was stolen and they cut off the terminals and all the cables that were connected to the battery...
recently bought a new battery but tried connecting it, but i cant seem to connect the cables right because when i connect it goes up in smoke and the terminals heat up.

is there a diagram or manual that you can provide so that i can reconnect the battery without any fault..??

Sorry I could not find any diagrams for you.

Check the cables first. The cable and any other wires that are bolted to the vehicle body should be connected to the negative terminal of the battery.

All other cables and wires should be attached to the positive side. Always attach the negative last. If you are not sure of any wires, don't attach them first without checking where they lead to.
