1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass car turned off while driving

I was driving about 15 minutes I made a turn was starting to pick up speed and when I got to 40 mph my car suddenly turned off. I had gas in it when I would try to start it up again it would turn on but it wouldn't last long and turned off again.
