I recently replaced the valve cover gasket and changed the oil and filter. After completion I started the car and noticed almost instantly the manifold was begining to smoke and began to turn red. There was no residule oil or anything spilled on the manifold. Event the next day started the car again just to verify I wasnt seeing things and with in 2 minutes it began to smoke again and get extremely hot. Not sure where to start. All connections are good from where I did the valve cover. Nothing else was touched.

One or more cylinders are misfiring causing the catalytic converter to glow red hot. Check the spark plugs and related components.
