OD is run through the same clutch packs as the other gears. Therefore, I don't think it's clutched. Is the fluid clean and full?

OD clutch is at end of transmission and can be accessed by taking the end cover off. Such problems are common for this transmission and replacing the OD clutch works.

The 1 - 2 sticking intermittently indicates the shift solenoids are not working well and quite often are the cause for transmission failure.

You can try the dealer or any place that does transmission rebuilds. Parts stores would only have the complete kit.

Replacing the clutch plates and disks would not work if the seals are bad and they would have to be replaced as well.

Installation on vehicle is a little tricky as the thrust washer ( item #9 in second diagram) tends to fall off. Use petreleum jelly to hold the retainer in place.
