can broken treds on the oil filter housing be fixed?

If the oil filter housing looks like the picture below, replace the oil filter adapter. Talk to the service department at your local dealership for the part. That would be the safest thing to do. You might be able to use a thread chaser, don't know if that would help? At the moment, I'm not sure if that is a pipe thread or what?
