Fairly certain the lift motor is bad. need to know if i have to take out the entire window regulator and "secure the sector gear" or can i simply swap out the old lift motor with my replacement lift motor

to be clear as i can be dense...

i can simply remove the old lift motor and put in the new lift motor ? I do not need to take the whole regulator out and secure sector gear BEFORE removing the old lift motor ?
