1997 Ford Ranger help i cant see

So I figured it has to be the reverse light switch.so I got a new one and no back up lights... what else could it be? its a base model and has nothing extra... please help.

it may be the range selector as well which is in the trans. check fuse 26 and ground behind left cowl panel.
