1997 Ford Probe Shifter stuck in park

if you aren't putting foot on brake with key on it won't go. it may be the shift interlock is not working so check fuses in car and under hood. it's at rear of gear shift assembly. there may be a button to push so it will go out of park. look for an access hole on console.
