Good afternoon.

All the information is below.

Roy

Firing order

1-5-3-6-2-4

Cap location for wires attached.

Ignition timing

INITIAL TIMING

1. Place transmission in NEUTRAL (M/T) or PARK (A/T) with A/C and heater in OFF position.
2. Connect an inductive timing light.
3. Disconnect the single wire in-line Spark Output (SPOUT) connector or remove the shorting bar from the double wire SPOUT connector.
4. Start engine and allow to reach operating temperature. With engine at timing rpm, check or adjust initial timing to specification.

NOTE: To set timing correctly, a remote starter should not be used. Use the ignition key only to start the vehicle. Disconnecting the start wire at the starter relay will cause Ignition Control Module (ICM) to revert to start mode timing after the vehicle is started. Reconnecting the start wire after the vehicle is running will not correct the timing.

5. Reconnect single wire in-line spout connector or reinstall the shorting bar on the double wire spout connector. Check timing advance to verify distributor is advancing beyond the initial setting.
6. Remove test instruments.

Ignition timing

Base Timing .................... 10° BTDC

Make sure you have the firing order right and rotor is in the right position . To make sure you have the rotor in the right position find the ,"tdc" To do that remove 1 spark plug, put your finger over the hole and have someone move the crankshaft by hand (t-bar and a socket on the end of the crank pulley) turn the crank untill you feel air push your finger from the hole. When it does watch the crankpulley and put it on 0 degress you are now top dead center on number one. this should be the firing order for your vehical

I read some where that Rough idle, that cannot be corrected by normal service procedures on 1977 and later models, may be cause by leakage between the EGR valve body and diaphragm. To determine if this is the cause. Hope this helps ya.
