car would not start, determined needed new fuel pump. new pump installed, car starts perfect but now the low fuel indicator lights keeps going on and off. (the tank is half full). my mechanic friend thought it was the ground so he redid the ground and that did not help. did I get a bad pump or is there something else we can try??

Hello,

It sounds like there might be an issue with the fuel level sending unit of the fuel pump.
It could be the actual level sending unit that is not functioning properly or the connector that provides that data to the vehicle.
Many of these vehicles had issue with the replacement connector for the fuel pump, so that would be the first thing to be inspected. I have attached the instructions of what to look for in the connector for the level sensor.

I attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
