Chevy 5.7 ltre compresion lost

Lost Compresion on chevy 5.7 V-8 on #4 & 6 cylincers.
Was told could be valves, gaskets (head, valve cover, or exhaust). Any suggestions. Vehicle did overhead and shut down but ran for 2 weeks after that no problem after replacing water pump and radiator and flush. Runs fine at idle and when under load tings like timing or distributor off or bad gas but shop diagnosed as compresion lost and possible valve problem but other mechanics doubted and gave gasket or head/exhaust manifold advise.

About the only thing you can be sure about is that it's serious and will have to be torn down. no one is going to know the extent of the damage until that is done.

Thanks. I did expect to have to break down the left bank and check but was looking for a better idea of what could be. Truck is not worth that much and either looking to keep if not that much to fix or sell as is. Thanks for your advise Wrenchtech.

I would NEVER tear down only one side. That could be a very costly mistake. The other side of the engine got just as hot as the left side.
