New lifters require a new camshaft too because they wear together. Have you determined what failed and why? GM had a big problem with some camshaft lobes not getting oiled properly from the oil draining down that missed a couple of lobes, but that was back in the '70s. I'm sure they solved that problem by now. Lifters can fail to pump up anytime so mileage is not a concern. If a lobe wore away on the camshaft, it lasted 179,000 miles. No reason to expect any less from a new one.

There is no way of giving a answer like that. That's like asking tell me how long will i live? There are too many variable's you could run it out of oil the oil pump could fail it could overheat and go that way.Just like someone could have a heart attack get hit by a bus etc. There really is no way to give a correct answer i have seen engines last hundred's of thousands of miles and some last a few thousand.I have a car with almost 220,000 miles and when it goes it goes i have know way of know when that is.That is my honest answer.
